Directions

CAUTION: This is a mountainous area with dirt/gravel roads, if you are towing a boat or trailer, you will certainly need a 4-wheel drive vehicle. There are many steep hills and few, limited turnaround areas. Drive SLOW and use CAUTION! USE of ATV’s is NOT PERMITTED on Wilderness Lake Estates roads.

Mountain Lake Cabin from Owassa Road (first Locate the Appropriate Zone Directions below, then follow these):

Take the dirt/gravel road called Owassa and follow it thru woods and hills. (Use CAUTION and drive carefully — there are no guard rails and road conditions vary with the seasons). You will pass several side roads & private drives – keep going straight to the entrance marked with 2 stone pillars. When you arrive at WLE, the roads all connect to a loop called Wilderness Lake Circle. Turn right on Wilderness Lake going down the hill and follow it past a small pond on the left and a number of empty lots. Just after you pass a road merging on your left, turn left up the concrete road called Lake Point Drive – about halfway up, turn right on the gravel driveway (Don’t Stop on concrete – Keep Going on dirt/gravel road to right). Follow this to the Mountain View Cabin is stained teak with 2 porches and dormers.

Lake Side Cabin from Owassa Road (first Locate the Appropriate Zone Directions below, then follow these):

Take the dirt/gravel road called Owassa and follow it thru woods and hills. (Use CAUTION and drive carefully — there are no guard rails and road conditions vary with the seasons). You will pass several side roads & private drives – keep going straight to the entrance marked with 2 stone pillars. When you arrive at WLE, the roads all connect to a loop called Wilderness Lake Circle. Turn right on Wilderness Lake going down the hill and follow it past a small pond on the left and a number of empty lots. Just after you pass a road merging on your left, you will notice a concrete road called Lake Point Drive on left. Go PAST the concrete road on your left and past the first dirt side road on your right. Before the road turns left along the lake, bear right down the hill on a side dirt road to the right. When you get to a level flat area you will see the Lake Side cabin straight ahead; it is stained cedar with a green roof. Since the driveway is fairly steep and new, you should park up top on the flat spot. By the way you won’t have to turn around to get back to the main road, just going up the hill to the left of the cabin’s driveway take you back to the Circle road.

North Zone – From Cincinnati, OH; Lexington, KY; Knoxville, TN

Take I-75 South past Knoxville to Sweetwater, TN Take Exit 60 and head South on TN Route 68 (road narrows and winds through foothills of Cherokee NF near Coker Creek, TN). After crossing the Hiawassee River, you will approach Farner, TN. About a mile after passing a sign for Apalachia Dam, turn left on Pine Ridge Road. (Note – if you get to Jett Mart – a gas/convenience store on right, you’ve gone too far). After you pass several house on right turn Left on next paved road: Camp Creek. (Before the turn you should notice a Red Sign on tree for Wilderness Lake Estates). Finally turn Left at a dirt/gravel road called Owassa and follow it thru woods and hills.

West Zone – From Nashville and Chattanooga, TN (Scenic Drive)

Take I-75 (North) to U.S. 64 East Exit and follow the Ocoee River to Ducktown, TN.  At Ducktown head North on TN Route 68 about 10 Miles to TN Route 123.  Turn Right on TN 123; After about a mile you’ll be heading East on NC Hwy. 294.  Right after you pass Liberty Church (brick, on left), turn Left on next paved road (W. Pine Ridge).  Follow that paved road to Stop Sign (dead end) and Turn Left on East Pine Ridge Rd.  (Before the Stop you should notice a Red Sign on tree for Wilderness Lake Estates).  Look for WLE sign at the next intersection (Camp Creek Road) & Turn Right.  Finally turn Left at a dirt/gravel road called Owassa and follow it thru woods and hills

East Zone – From Murphy, NC (Cherokee County)

Take U.S. 64 West to NC Hwy. 294 and Turn Right.  Go past Hiwassee Dam area, but stay on Hwy. 294 going past Field of the Woods.  Next look a Red Sign that indicates a right turn for Wilderness Lake Estates.  Follow that paved road (W. Pine Ridge) to Stop Sign (dead end) and Turn Left on E. Pine Ridge.  (Before the Stop you should notice a Red Sign on tree for Wilderness Lake Estates).  Look for WLE sign at the next intersection (Camp Creek Road) & Turn Right.  Finally turn Left at a dirt/gravel road called Owassa and follow it thru woods and hills

East Zone 2 – From Asheville, NC

Take I-40 West to Exit 27 at Town of Lake Junaluska follow divided highway to Bryson City.  Stay on Highway to US 19 and Hwy. 129 thru Nantahala Park to Andrews and then Murphy

South Zone – From Florida and Atlanta, Georgia

Alternate Route From Florida or  Atlanta, Georgia (thru Blue Ridge and McCaysville, GA)

Take I-75 North past Atlanta to Exit 115 or I-575 which changes to Hwy 5.  In Blue Ridge, GA turn Left at the Traffic Light on Hwy 5 (McDonalds on corner).  Continue north on Hwy 5 to 3-way Stop Sign in McCaysville and turn Left.  Follow the Road (changes to TN 68) to Copperhill and Ducktown, TN.  At Ducktown head North on TN Route 68 about 10 Miles to TN Route 123.  Turn Right on TN 123; After about a mile you’ll be heading East on NC Hwy. 294.  Right after you pass Liberty Church (brick, on left), turn Left on next paved road (W.
